About Us
Our Story
Chandra Yoga Wimbledon was founded to offer yoga in its true form, as a physiological system of healing that also builds strength, stability, and vitality. Beyond exercise or performance, yoga’s purpose is to restore balance within the body, regulate the nervous system, and support the body’s natural capacity to heal, while developing a resilient and functional body.
Our classes work intelligently across the muscular, skeletal, nervous, and energetic systems through mindful movement, breath, and awareness. This approach cultivates sustainable strength, mobility, and endurance without strain, while promoting deep relaxation and clarity.
Whether you are seeking healing, greater physical capability, or both, our practice supports you in becoming stronger, more balanced, and at ease in your body.
Our Studio
Nestled in Merton Abbey Mills, our intimate studio offers highly personalised classes, with a maximum of five students per session. This small-group setting allows for individual attention, precise guidance, and a deeper exploration of form, alignment, and awareness within the practice.
Yoga
We teach Classical Hatha Yoga, guided by Taylor Newton Murphy, who has over 20 years of experience and was trained in Kerala, India. Taylor also practices Chi Kung and is a licensed acupuncturist. His teaching is a unique synthesis of these disciplines, refined through decades of study, practice, and observation of the body as an integrated system.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, we are here to guide you towards lasting health, clarity, and self-awareness through the practice of yoga.
Through Classical Hatha Yoga, we learn to cultivate true inner peace and to realise Saccidānanda (Sanskrit: सच्चिदानन्द): being, consciousness, and lasting happiness.
What Our Students Say
We are proud to have helped our students on their journey to better health and wellness. Here are some of their stories:
Jess Taylor
As someone who's fairly new to yoga I really found the intimate class sizes a great way to learn. It's far less intimidating and means you're able to get adjustments and advice on your form as you practice. I've already noticed improvements from when I first started.
Rachel Rayner
This is a lovely, small, welcoming studio and Taylor is a fantastic teacher. The classes are a great blend of being inclusive and challenging for all levels - the best I've found in this area so definitely recommend.
Laurie Jane
I've started yoga from a place of very low fitness and flexibility, and Taylor has been so helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating. Even after only a handful of classes I can tell it's improving my physical well-being and reducing my stress levels. The early bird class is such a peaceful and also energising start to the day. Highly, highly recommended.
